IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER IN SIGNAGE:

Visibility

The ability for your signs and graphic application to be read and understood is an important consideration when designing begins. Every Signs By Tomorrow has trained designers on staff to assist you with deciding on the best solution for your sign and graphic needs.  Contact us at 480-899-7711 for a free consultation.

Letter Sizes

- The most successful impact for viewing distance (in feet) is 10 times the height of the letter in inches (i.e. The best impact on 10 inch letters is at 100 feet.)

Design & Layout

- A study at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry found that:

- Borders increase readability 26%

- Multiple colors increase readability 78%

Color  Combinations

- The best guidelines for colors is to have at least 70% contrast between your background color and text colors

- Examples of high contrast are Red, Blue or Black lettering on White backgrounds, while low contrast would be red on black.

- Also, consider background surfaces, window tinting, lighting, etc.

Durability

- Where is the sign going to go?

- Will it be inside or outside

- How long will the sign need to last?

- Is it temporary or permanent

Logo and Artwork Files

- Providing vector artwork (saved as points, lines and curves) is the best file format.  File extensions are typically .EPS or .AI.  When vector art is enlarged it remains crisp and clear for high quality signage.

- Bitmap art is one solid image in which resolution is determined by DPI or dots per inch.  File extensions are typically .jpg, .tif and .bmp.  These file types do not work for signage because they become fuzzy or pixelated as they are enlarged.

- We are here to review all types of artwork and are usually able to convert bitmap files or recreate images as needed.  Our on staff Designer can help get your files into the required format.

- Contact us at 480-899-7711 to arrange for your free artwork review.

Sign permits and installation

- Sign criteria is determined by your City Sign Regulations.

- Sign criteria may be described in your lease and proof approval may be required by your landlord; however, this should always be checked against City Sign Regulations to ensure permit approval without delay.

- Square footage allowed is usually based on the linear feet of your store front and/or suite size.

- We are here to help with permit application and processing.
