FILE PREP. & ARTWORK
We prefer Adobe Illustrator files, but we can use just about any file. If you have a question about a file please feel free to call. All fonts should be converted to outlines or curves to avoid any font compatibility issues.
- Bitmap vs. Vector
- Bitmap - One solid image, resolution is determined by DPI or dots per inch (File extensions are .JPG, .TIFF, .BMP, etc.)
- Vector - Points, lines, and curves (File extensions are .EPS, .AI & .PDF)
Any bitmap/raster artwork should be saved to full scale at 150 DPI or larger.
LETTER SIZE & VISIBILITY
- The most successful impact for viewing distance (in feet) is 10 times the height of the letter in inches (i.e. The best impact on 10 inch letters is at 100 feet.)
- Visibility: A study at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry found that:
- Borders increase readability 26%
- Multiple colors increase readability 78%

COLOR COMBINATIONS
Your going to want to use high contrasting colors such as:

- If you have a company logo, consider using their color scheme.
PERMITS
It is always recommended that you check to see if you need permits for any sign. Different counties and cities have their own regulations. .
