File Types That Work Best for Your Job

(we work with AI, EPS, PDF, DXF, DWF, BMP, TIF, JPG, PSD, GIF, and more)

Vector Files where graphics are saved as outlines are always preferred. They are commonly saved as Adobe Illustrator (ai), eps OR pdf files. All text should be converted to curves or provide the fonts (PC True Type) if we need to change text. These types of files are generally scalable to any size without loss of quality. If file contains a rastered image (i.e. pixel or photos type file) see Raster Files section below.

Raster Files (also known as bit mapped or photo) will sometimes work if they are created just right. They are typically saved as jpg (most common), tif (highest quality), bmp, gif, pcx, etc.  The file should be created at the appropriate size for best results. The goal is to have files with a resolution of 100-150 ppi (pixels per inch) at the final output size (the size we are going to print). A 300 ppi file can be safely enlarged 2-3 times bigger (divide 300 by 3 and you end up with a targed resolution of 100ppi). Files captured from web sites are generally worthless because they are extremely small and only 72ppi. Just saving a jpeg file as an eps will not solve the problem of too small a file size.

NOTE:  If possible, please supply a color print or pdf of the file.

File Conversions we provide conversion services to recreate your logo into a true production (vector) file. There is a one time fee for this advanced service.

Why Save As doesnt usually work true vector files are created that way originally. Saving a jpg or tiff file to eps just makes a very large and useless file. Vector files can always be safely saved as a raster file, but this is not true for saving raster as a vector.
