Local business owner Cece Corona recently received one of the Signs By Tomorrow Project of the Year Awards at the Alliance Franchise Brands Convention in Nashville, Tenn. They were recognized for their work on a visual communications project for a special room within the Johnson County Library called MakerSpace. The award is sponsored by national trade magazine Wide-Format Imaging and Alliance Franchise Brands.
The MakerSpace room provides guests of the library with an opportunity to create unique, computer-enhanced projects using an impressive selection of software programs and MakerSpace hardware. Guests can create remarkable objects, ranging from newsletters and websites to stuffed animals and chess sets.
Before MakerSpace could become a success, it needed a vision. For technology to sound its innovative and electrifying voice, it needed a face. That face was conceptualized and created by Signs By Tomorrow Overland Park.
Beginning with a simple, fresh coat of paint, the entranceway was designed to stand in stark juxtaposition to the metal cogs arrayed around the doors. A specialized sign comprised of gears was designed and cut from Max-Metal, a high density polyethylene core surrounded by brushed aluminum. The gears and cogs, all of varying dimensions, were then applied to the outer wall to create depth.
“It was quite a challenge to create and install this specialized visual communications piece. The overall effect of the graphics in the library was to create imagination and inspire the guests. It was well worth the effort when we saw the finished product,” remarked Corona.
