Whats the Difference between Serif & Sans Serif Fonts?

When designing a sign from scratch, you may be asked what kind of font style you prefer.

Most commonly this refers to serif or sans serif font. Below is an infographic explaining the differences between the two.

In summary, serif fonts are recommended if you have a large body of text, while sans serif fonts are best for headings and small blocks of text such as captions. When it comes to sign design, we like sans serif fonts for bold, attention-grabbing signs such as coroplast yard signs, foamcore posters, and banners.
